Martyr’s Curse (Ex): To heal others, Cidney must draw on her own life force. When using a cure spell (a spell with “cure” in its name) on a target other than herself, Cidney takes nonlethal damage equal to the spell’s level, but the recipient heals additional hit points of the same amount. If a spell affects multiple targets, only one receives the additional healing. This cannot increase damage done to undead.

At 5th level, all cure spells cast by Cidney on targets other than herself are empowered (+50%). This does not stack with the Empowered Spell metamagic feat and does not increase damage to undead.

At 10th level, all recipients of a multi-target cure spell cast by Cidney heal additional hit points equal to half her character level as long as Cidney is not included in the spell’s targets. This additional healing stacks with Martyr’s base effect, but does not increase damage done to undead.

At 15th level, Cidney may choose to maximize healing done to targets other than herself with cure spells instead of empowering them. This does not stack with the Maximized Spell metamagic feat and does not increase damage to undead.

Cidney was born on Bral, and from the time she was young displayed unexplained powers of healing. As a child, she was seen as something of a figure of good luck and it was thought that her powers originated from the goddess Yondalla. As she became an adult, however, it became apparent by the Blessed One’s priesthood that Cidney’s healing came from somewhere else entirely. Little-by-little, rumors spread about the source of Cidney’s abilities, as well as fear that she could be the product of something dangerous to the halfling community.

Deciding to leave before she was cast our, Cidney was hired by Ellana Cozar to watch after Aric while he was young and has worked in the Cozar Manor ever since. Several years into her job, Cidney rescued a halfling ninja who was near death, who would later become her husband and partner in looking after Aric. While Cidney still does not know the origin of her healing powers, they have long been used to serve the sick and injured servants of the house.
