Transformation (Su): While this true form is that of a nascent demon lord, Marcus is able to take on the appearance and traits he had as a human. Doing so causes him to take on a new stat block, keeping only his telepathy and tongues abilities. Marcus returns to his true form immediately if slain, and can revert to his true form at any time as a full-round action. Upon returning to his true form he may end any condition he is suffering from, is allowed a new saving throw against any lasting magical effect he might be under. Marcus’s human transformation and his true form have separate hit points from each other. Upon returning to his true form for any reason, Marcus cannot use his human transformation again until one week has passed.

The son of Julius and Cornelia Davenoak, Marcus was a noble man with a just heart who was raised to carry on his father’s legacy of service to good and righteousness. In many ways he expressed the best aspects of both of his parents, mixing Julius’s talent with his mother’s kindness. Though his destiny as the next wielder of the Carsomyr seemed all but fated, it was not to be.

Marcus was raised alongside a demon-spawn named Haliex, who Julius had attempted to bring up embracing the principles of good despite his nature. All signs pointed to it being a success, and there was no warning when Haliex forsook goodness for chaos and evil. It is not known how he corrupted Marcus, but when Haliex departed for the abyss the paladin also chose to follow him on the path of darkness.

Many years later Marcus returned to his homeland for his sister Eirwyn’s wedding, but his intention were anything but pure. He battled his newly married brother-in-law, Aldrin, as well as his father. In the end Marcus revealed his true demon form and slayed Julius with his own hands, taunting Aldrin and leaving memories to torment Eirwyn as he departed.

Marcus now goes by “Duke Isseon”, and is the second-in-command of Haliex the Sin-Eater, in charge of his conquest over worlds. While much is unknown, it seems he had a part to play in the destruction of Vesta, and plots to bring Toril to a similar fate.
