Ebon Lightning Strike (Su): As a standard action, Duke Isseon can make a single attack against a target within 100 feet with a melee weapon, using his highest base attack bonus. Doing so causes Duke Isseon to appear behind his enemy. The target is considered to be flat-footed for the attack, and if Duke Isseon scores a critical hit he increases the damage multiplier by one (x2 to x3, etc). This special attack may be used every 1d4 rounds.

Nascent Demon Lord Traits: In addition to the numerous defenses and abilities incorporated in Duke Isseon’s statistics, his weapons (natural and manufactured) are treated as chaotic, epic, and evil for the purpose of resolving damage reduction. Further, while Duke Isseon has no worshipers, he is able to grant access to the Chaos, Charm, Evil, and Strength domains and the Demon, Fear, Ferocity, and Lust subdomains.

Summon Demons (Sp): As a nascent demon lord, Duke Isseon can summon any demon or combination of demons whose total combined CR is 20 or lower. This ability always works, and is equivalent to a 9th-level spell.

Transformation (Su): Duke Isseon can revert to his human form with a full-round action. Doing so changes his stat block entirely, turning him into a level 20 human antipaladin. His human shape and true form do not share hit points. While Duke Isseon is able to return to his true form at any time, he can only assume his human transformation once a week.

Design Notes
Boss Encounter: When encountered as a boss, Duke Isseon has max hit points per level and three Villain Points that he can spend like Hero Points, except they cannot be used to Cheat Death. This gives him a total of 580 hit points.

Advanced Incubus: Aside from being a powerful nascent demon lord, Duke Isseon’s nature is that of an incubus. Stronger than most, he has +4 to all Ability scores and +2 to his natural armor.

Nascent Demon Lord: Despite once being human, Duke Isseon is a powerful demon just short of the transition from a unique incubus to a full demon lord of the Abyss. Being a nascent demon lord provides the following benefits:
* Regeneration 15 (good)
* DR 15/cold iron and good
* Immunity to death effects, electricity, charm and compulsion effects, and poison.
* Resistance to acid 30, cold 30, and fire 30.
* Nascent Demon Lord Spell-Like Abilities.
* Telepathy 300 ft.
* All physical Ability scores increase by six (+6 Str, +6 Dex, +6 Con).
* The Ebon Lightning Strike special attack.

The true form of Marcus is Duke Isseon, an antipaladin incubus of incredible power who serves as the second-in-command of Haliex the Sin-Eater. While nearly possessing the power of a demon lord himself, he seems to still remain loyal to his master’s goals.

The party encountered Duke Isseon for their second time deep within the Rock of Bral. He arrived amidst their battle with a demoness named Xedria and his own servant referred to only as “the Favorite”. Taunting Aldrin and Shane, he informed them that his Favorite had once been chosen by Sol Victoria of Vesta, and proceeded to shatter Aldrin’s sword in an attempt to break the knight’s resolve.

He was unsuccessful, and Aldrin defeated him with a broken blade, forcing him to retreat for the time. The group separated him from his Favorite, whose identity was revealed to be that of Viola, younger sister to Shane who was believed to be dead. Years of torture under Duke Isseon had corrupted her mind, body, and soul, proving that the antipaladin would stop at nothing to pervert or destroy anything good in the world.
